THE CHRONICLES OF JASON DRUMMOND
Book Three: Home Again?
Chapter 4: Jamie's Return

Jason laid there, paralyzed with fear as Walker slowly approached him, a cable arcing with electricity trailing along behind him.

“I always knew that I’d be able to take you down…. Granted, I didn’t imagine it would be like this,” James said aiming his short sword at Jason’s throat, “but I’m not complaining. Maybe I’ll take that pelt of yours as a trophy. Or sell it on the internet.”

Before he could blast in Jason’s face though, he was rammed away by a fast moving black blur.

“Ja-Jamie???” Jason coughed out from the smoke, both shocked and relieved to see him.

“Yeah, I got your message Jason!! Don’t worry!!” Jamie called back, punching and kicking James.

“Message?” Selina asked.

“First cartoon animals and now robots!? This is getting pretty screwed up!!!” James growled, a thick cord with a blade affixed to the end of it shooting out of his gauntlets and imbedding itself in Jamie’s shield. “Gotcha!!” James sneered, sending a current through the cable right to Jamie.

Although he could not feel the electricity, the current did screw with his systems. “Ja-Ja-Ja-Jas-!!!!” Jamie said through his electronic screeches.

“Jamie!!” Jason called out, tossing a Chaos Arrow at the cable, severing it.

“Thanks!!” Jamie shouted to Jason.

“Urgh…. I need a better tactical point!!” James muttered, his wings opening up and the jetpack activating, lifting him off the ground.

“Ah no you don’t!! I’m not done yet!!” Jamie called out, his own wings popping out and taking flight after James.

“Eat plasma, brat!!” James snarled, firing a shot of plasma at Jamie, who just dodged.

Jamie aimed his arm cannon and fired several shots, which were ultimately blocked by the suit’s wings. James lunged at Jamie, his sword out and ready to impale to robot, but Jamie deflected the blow with his shield then kicked him in the chest, knocking the gangster back.

“Grrrrrr…. BURN, BRAT!!!!” James shouted, a hose underneath his gauntlet shooting out a stream of burning gasoline at Jamie, who dodged, his shield too dented and full of holes to help him out here.

“Nearly got you ya little-” James sneered, but was interrupted when a bullet hit his jetpack’s fuel line, rupturing it. “What!? No no no no no no!!!” he said in a panic as his harness started to sputter and struggle to remain in the air.

“Chill, man!!” Jamie said, flying in with his frost cannon, the fluid putting out the fire and freezing James Walker in a large chunk of ice. Flying in, Jamie kept the ice from falling to the ground, and carefully lowered it so that it didn’t shatter.

“Nice job Jamie!!!” Selina said, running over with Jason. “But….. how’dd you pull off that shot with the fuel line?”

“I didn’t shoot his fuel line, didn’t you?” Jamie asked.

“No, I don’t have my shock pistol.” Selina. “Jason??”

“No, my MACs were jammed.” Jason said.

“But then….. who fired the shot?” Jamie asked.

“I did.”

From behind the frozen block of ice containing James Walker stepped an old woman. But it wasn’t a sweet, little old lad with a purse or umbrella. This woman looked strong and very fit for her age, and she wore a military aviator jacket, camo-patterned pants, and sunglasses. In her hands she held what looked like a sniper rifle, the barrel still smoking, and behind her was a small pile of suitcases, one of which was open, showing more guns inside it. All she needed was a cigar and she would have been perfect for an action movie poster.

“Jason!!! Why did you stand there like an idiot and not help your brother with that orange energy of yours!?” the old woman barked angrily as if she were a military sergeant. “Jamie!! When he goes for a lunging stab, you’re supposed to grab his arm, and then dislocate his shoulder with a kick to where the arm connects to the shoulder blade, not the armored stomach!”

“Sorry Grandma Sophia.” Jason & Jamie said in unison, before the woman hugged the latter.

“It’s good to see you Jamie….” Sophia said, smiling and patting his back.
PHEW!!! Done at last!! and we get a new character: Sophia Drummond, Jason's militant and slightly crazy grandma on his dad's side.

Short, I know, but whatever. Enjoy.
